Change product key of SQL Server 2005

Is there any way to change product key after installation of SQL Server 2005 or must be SQL Server reinstalled. We have used wrong one for our customer because carelessness. Any problem if customer use product with old product key, but have a legal licence for product?

Hi,

see if you can change that:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\ProductID

Hello,

thanks for answer but it seem be that ProductID is other value like Product Key. Also other format. I found in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQLServer\CurrentVersion a value SerialNumber. But for now is emtpy. Not know if this right place to do this.

Any other suggestion ?

thanks

|||Is the Product Key that's installed with the product from the same distribution channel as the real key (i.e. both are retail products or both are volume licenses)?|||

No it was not. Installation was from MSDN, but customer licence was from reseller. But we have reinstalled SQL Server 2005, so that meet licence agreement. But thanks for help.
