change server name

how can I change the server name?
I'm assuming you mean the instance name of MSDE. You will need to change the
name of the computer that MSDE is running on. Named instances will retain
the instance name, except that the machine name prefix of the instance name
will change to the new machine name. If you have a named instance and need
to change the instance name then you will need to reinstall MSDE with that
new name.
