changing a reply to another question in the same thread

Is there a way to do this? When I have a further question in the same thread, my only option is to reply to the one who answered the last question. How do I put forward that question to everyone? Do I have to start a new thread with the same subject?

thx

Kat

hi kat,

starting a new thread wont harm anyone

so just go ahead and ask

I would suggest that you have a couple of options. If you don't feel the answer was acceptable, unmark it and ask your question.

If the answer was acceptable, and you just have a follow up, just ask the question in that same thread. It will pop back to the top, so someone should look at it. Especially if it was a follow up that needs the existing question/code etc.

If not, then start a new thread, but reference the old thread by URL. Then you get the best of both worlds. You get the old thread material, and the new one that "demands" attention :)

Thanks Louis,

Now a retarded question, how do I reference the old thread by URL?

thx,

Kathleen

Oh yes, I asked you about obtaining the MVP certification. What was it specific to?

For the URL, just copy shortcut from the Subject, or from the URL in the Address menu when you arent adding a post. For example, this url would be:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=711775&SiteID=1

For more information about the MVP program, this overview says it way better than I could: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpexecsum :)
