My question is, if I have a SQL2k install, licensed to 1 processor, and I
add a 2nd processor, how do I change the license for a 2nd processor? Do I
need to reconfigure the install? Do I need to type in the new serial number
somewhere? Or do I just need to buy the license for audit purposes?
Chris (IS at the domain of screenplay dot com)
YOu just jave to add them with the licence setup in the control panel.

Change replicationAgent that starts SQLSERVERAGENT
Hi,
We are using Push subscription in our transactional replication setup in SQL
2K and I noticed that the SQLSERVERAGENT service is started by a local
account called replicationAgent. Is it a problem for me to change it to a
different local account? If it is ok to change it, do I need to change it
also in the subscriber computer and is it necessary that both account name
and password need to be the same?
Wingman
It is ok to change it to an account in the local administrator group, or an
account which has write permission to the default snapshot share.
Make sure that the job owner is sa otherwise it probably will not start.

Change Object Ownership
I'm running SQL2K on an Win 2K Server. Because of addition of additions to our network, we've installed AD on the Win 2K to graduate
it to a Domain Controller Server. Checking the event log, one finds
an ownership warning:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: SQLSERVERAGENT
Event Category: Job Engine
Event ID: 208
Date: 1/15/2002
Time: 8:00:01 PM
User: N/A
Computer: XXXXX-XXX
Description:
SQL Server Scheduled Job 'DB Backup Job for DB Maintenance Plan 'DB Maintenance Plan1'' (0x72097D93A71E1842AA6C46E6AC59750B) - Status: Failed - Invoked on: 2002-01-15 20:00:01 - Message: The job failed. The owner () of job DB Backup Job for DB Maintenance Plan 'DB Maintenance Plan1' does not have server access.
I believe this warning is generated because the SQLServer system is
looking to execute the DB Backup plan using the new Domain
administrative account. I came to this conclusion after reviewing
replication ownership warnings in the event log. I was easly able to
change replication jobs from then new Domain administrative account
to sa.
I would like to change the ownership to sa for a Maintenance Plan.
Is there a way to do this? Is this the solution? You would be better off not using a maintenance plan but coding the requirement yourself in a stored procedure. It is very easy to do and gets round these problems as you know what it is doing.

change MSDB owner
My Production's SQL2k MSDB & Model database owner is my old NT Domain
Administrator (olddomain/administrator). Can't remember how it ended that
way. Master owner is SA.
We have completed domain migration to Active Directory, if sp_changedbowner
is not going to allow me to change DB owner for MSDB & Model, does that mean
I got to keep my PDC (NT Domain) forever ?
Surely there must be a work-around for this.
Warning !!!
The following script is not a standard procedure:
[script]
use master
go
exec sp_configure 'allow updates', 1
reconfigure with override
go
update sysdatabases
set sid = 0x01
where name = 'model'
go
sp_configure 'allow updates', 0
reconfigure with override
[/script]
